Visit to Ireland

Graham will be visiting Ireland on 25th and 26th April, calling on existing and new clients in the Kilkenny and Dublin areas. If you are in this area and would like to meet Graham on either of these days to discuss new plant varieties, please get in touch as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Thanks to all those that took the time to meet with me during the visit, particularly those who were able to see me at short notice. I plan to be back in Ireland soon!

EU PVR application filed for Nemesia Celine

Nemesia Celine

An application for Plant Variety Rights in the variety Nemesia Celine has been filed with the CPVO on behalf of the breeder, Martine Tellwright. The details of the application are as follows:

Provisional designation: Nemesia foetens Vent. FLEURCEL
Breeder’s reference: Celine
File number of the application: 20060810
Date of filing: 29 March 2006

European law states that the filing of an application grants the same level of protection as if the application had been successful and the right granted. Therefore, it goes without saying that propagation for sale or other distribution without a licence is illegal.

CPVO President writes on Essentially Derived Varieties

The CPVO President, Bart Kiewiet, has written a short article on Essentially Derived Varieties (EDVs). The article can be found by clicking here (PDF file).

This article gives a useful insight into the CPVO’s policies on EDVs as well as giving some general pointers towards defining EDVs and providing guidance for growers who think that EDVs derived from one or more of their own varieties might exist.
